Abstract
Two new carbocyclic imidazoles, 6 and 9 have been synthesised via a si mple method from the corresponding formamidine 5; these intermediates have been shown to be useful for the synthesis of new cyclobutyl nucle oside analogues including the known bis-benzoyl cyclobut-A 11.
