G. Barthel, STUDIES INTO PHARMACOKINETICS OF SULFAMER AZINE IN CALF, FOLLOWING APPLICATION OF PROBENECID, Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin, 48(7), 1993, pp. 371-374
One single dose of 60 mg/kg B. W. of sulfamerazine was intravenously i
njected to each of four clinically intact calves in the first of two e
xperiments. In a second experiment, one week later, two daily doses of
20 mg/kg B. W. each of probenecid were orally administered to the sam
e animals, from the first to the last day of the experiment. One singl
e intravenous application of 60 mg/kg B. W. of sulfamerazine followed
on the second day of the experiment. Administration of probenecid had
no effect at all on the pharmacokinetics of sulfamerazine, with the la
tter not being excreted in a carrier-mediated way by the animals exami
ned.
