In two field trials conducted during one and two seasons, respectively
, the effect of NPK fertilization on artichoke was studied. In experim
ent 1, the fertilizer treatments were: three dosages of each N, P and
K; while in experiment 2, the treatments applied annually were: three
dosages of N and two dosages of each P and K. There was no response on
bolters yield with N dosage higher than 200 kg/ha/year. The PK fertil
izer did not increase the yield in both experiments, showing that leve
ls of available P from 27-33 ppm and of available K from 259-282 ppm w
ere adequate for the normal growth of artichoke. No effect of N, P and
K dosages on earliness of bolters was noted.
