Abstract
Spontaneous electric polarization of magnetite has been studied by mea suring the polarization reversal charge along the a axis. The magnitud e of the polarization at 4.2 K is estimated to be over 52 muC cm-2. Th is is about ten times larger than the magnitude reported so far and co mparable order to that of BaTiO3.
