Kinetics of photoinduced charge separation due to reversible outer sph
ere electron transfer processes in asymmetrical dimeric systems, e.g.
asymmetrically substituted bianthryl in liquid solutions are investiga
ted. The theoretical approach is based on the Zusman type kinetic equa
tions and applies to adiabatic and nonadiabatic electron transfer proc
esses. Model calculations demonstrating the properties of the steady s
tate and the influence of the dielectric relaxation properties of the
solvent and the free-energy, DELTAG, on transient populations of the l
ocally excited and CT states are presented.
