Abstract
The ABCD law, used to calculate the self consistent gaussian beam in t raditional stable resonators, is extended to resonators of femtosecond self mode-locked solid-state lasers containing a self-focusing Kerr m edium. Simple closed-form results valid for arbitrary resonator config urations are obtained and criteria for designing and optimizing resona tors for self-mode locked lasers are discussed.
