Abstract
1-(alpha-Fluoroalkyl)benzotriazoles are formed in high yields by treat ment of their chloro precursors with potassium fluoride in 18-crown-6. The fluorine atom can then be displaced by methoxyarenes in the prese nce of a Lewis acid to afford 4-(alpha-substitute-dalkyl)methoxyarenes .
