Attempts of modelling mathematically the removal of colloidal silica f
rom waters feeding high-pressure boilers by means of ultrafiltration h
ave been presented. Analyses were carried out basing on data of ultraf
iltration experiments performed with a tubular polyacrylonitrile membr
ane, at colloidal silica concentrations of 2.5-50g/m3. The constants o
f the general dependence of the permeate flux on ultrafiltration proce
ss parameters (pressure, cross-flow velocity) and the concentration of
SiO2 in water, have been determined.
