Abstract
Phase change induced by 40 keV He+ ion bombardment in alpha-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 was studied by conversion electron Mossbauer spectroscopy. From the similarity of ion bombardment effect and thermal annealing behavio r, the significant role of thermochemical process after the propagatio n of the collision cascade for the final fate of the bombarded entity was suggested.
