Reaction of trimethylsilyl azide with [(eta-C5Me5)VCl2]3 produces a di
meric vanadium nitrido compound, [(eta-C5Me5)V(N)Cl]2. Spectroscopic,
structural, and reactivity data indicate that this compound possesses
stable and symmetric V(N)V interactions in the first example of a M2N2
compound.
