Abstract
Hexagonal boron nitride-aluminum nitride (50-50 wt%) ceramic composite s were synthesized by means of uniaxial hot pressing with variation in the starting materials of boron nitride. The bulk density and the ani sotropy of thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient and Vic kers hardness, decrease with decreasing particle size of boron nitride . It is concluded that the densification of the composites is dominate d by the sintering of aluminum nitride and boron nitride impedes the s intering of aluminum nitride.
