Abstract
We report the generation of pulses having a duration of 1 ps and a pul se energy of 280 pJ directly from a passively mode-locked Er fiber las er. The laser uses a nonlinear optical loop mirror at high switching t hreshold in an alloptical fiber resonator. Stable pulse trains are pro duced at the fundamental repetition rate of the resonator, 3.8 MHz.
