G. Sargsjan et al., FEMTOSECOND PULSE GENERATION BY LINEAR EXTERNAL-CAVITY MODE-LOCKING IN A BULK ND-GLASS LASER, Optics letters, 18(17), 1993, pp. 1450-1452
A bulk Nd:glass laser has been mode locked, for the first time to our
knowledge, with a linear external cavity that includes a vibrating mir
ror. By use of intracavity dispersion compensation, pulses of 300-fs d
uration have been generated. The effect of the mirror movement is attr
ibuted to a start mechanism of the passive coupled-cavity mode locking
and yields an expression for the optimal mirror velocity that is in q
ualitative agreement with the experiment.
