Abstract
Two novel tropoloisoquinoline alkaloids, Pareirubrines A and B, have b
een isolated as antileukemic substances from Cissampelos pareira (Meni
spermaceae), together with the same skeleton alkaloids, grandirubrine
and isoimerubrine. Their structures were elucidated by nuclear magneti
c resonance (NMR) studies, and their solid state tautomeric forms were
examined by X-ray crystallographic analysis.
