M. Deboer et al., APPLICATION OF ACOUSTOPHORESIS IN A STUDY ON SOLUTE SUPPORT INTERACTIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SUPPORTED COBALT MOLYBDENUM CATALYSTS, Applied catalysis. A, General, 102(1), 1993, pp. 35-51
Acoustophoresis has been used to investigate the interaction between s
uspended mineral oxides (SiO2 and Al2O3) and aqueous solutions of coba
lt (II) chloride, molybdenum (III) chloride and ammonium heptamolybdat
e (AHM) as a function of the pH. The measured electrokinetic sonic amp
litude (ESA) is directly related to the zeta-potential and gives infor
mation on the iso-electric point of the mineral oxides, that are used
as supports for catalysts. The interaction between the solutes and the
suspended mineral oxides is an important parameter for the preparatio
n of supported catalysts, which can be studied perfectly by means of a
coustophoresis. The specific adsorption of cobalt and molybdenum on si
lica and alumina has been considered.
