A new diluent not containing nitro groups, diethyleneglycol ditetraflu
oropropyl ether (DDTPE), is proposed for chlorinated cobalt dicarbolli
de (CCD). DDTPE provides high solubility for CCD and has physicochemic
al properties that are of interest for possible industrial application
s. Solutions of CCD and slovafol-909 in DDTPE can extract Cs and Sr fr
om up to 2.0 M HNO3. Possible explanations for the effect of DDTPE on
the extraction ability of CCD are offered.
