A new class of diluents for BNOPC, ethers containing fluorine (ECF), i
s investigated. Solutions of BNOPC in ECF are shown highly to extract
rare earths and transplutonium elements. They can be used to separate
macroscopic amounts of these elements without a solubilizer. It is dis
covered that the diluent properties significantly more strongly affect
the extraction ability of BNOPC containing aryl substituents on the P
than that of those with alkyl substituents.
