This article describes experimental investigations of viscoelastic pro
perties of composites consisting of conventional and re-entrant negati
ve-Poisson's-ratio copper foam as a matrix, with the following high-lo
ss-filler materials: viscoelastic elastomer, solder, and indium. The v
iscoelastic properties of gallium and several ferrites were also deter
mined. The loss tangent of the copper-elastomer composite substantiall
y exceeded the (lower) Voigt limit; the loss tangent of the copper-sol
der and copper-indium composites were close to the (upper) Hashin limi
t for the two-solid phases and one-pore phase.
