Abstract
The blood of healthy animals was irradiated at 254 nm with incident do se 0.05 Einstein/m2 and was thirdly infused to the rats in volume 2 ml /Kg body weight. The infusion of irradiated blood decreased the lethal ity of rats. Maximal therapeutic action was observed at 7-9th day afte r peritonitis induction. This effect was completely inhibited by injec tion the cyclooxigenase inhibitors aspirin or indomethacin (but not li pid antioxidants BHT or alpha-tocopherol) into irradiated portion of b lood before irradiation. The therapeutic effect of irradiated blood is due to cyclooxigenase activation by UV-radiation.
