Ma. Arnautova et al., MONTE-CARLO SIMULATION IN NUCLEAR GEOPHYSICS - INTERCOMPARISON OF THEPRIZMA MONTE-CARLO PROGRAM AND BENCHMARK EXPERIMENTS, Nuclear geophysics, 7(3), 1993, pp. 407-418
The initial experience of applying a versatile ''PRIZMA'' program to a
computational simulation of the results of neutron logging of rocks w
ith the help of a ''SRK'' equipment used in oil-and-gas well investiga
tion has been described. A water-saturated limestone of various porosi
ties was used as the rock. A short summary of the general functions of
the PRIZMA program which is intended for solving linear problems of t
ransport by the Monte Carlo method has been presented. The general app
roach to applying a non-analog simulation has been described and confi
rmed for a computing a problem in nuclear geophysics. An intercomparis
on between the results obtained and those of benchmark geophysical exp
eriments is presented.
