Abstract
Gamma-ray spectrometric analysis has been carried out on sediments col lected in an estuarine system formed by two major rivers in southern S pain. The results show clearly that important amounts of natural radio activity are accumulating on the bed of both rivers. This radioactivit y appears to originate from effluent from several phosphate fertilizer factories adjacent to the estuary.
