Abstract
Patients undergoing surgical procedures may have intraoperative and/or postoperative bleeding abnormalities. Mechanical or technical sources of hemorrhage can be identified by careful examination. Acquired coag ulopathies require laboratory tests for diagnosis. Because of the asso ciated high rates of morbidity and mortality, diagnosis and treatment must be instituted promptly.
