This paper presents a numerical method for the solution of the time-av
eraged Navier-Stokes equations, written in their contravariant strong
conservation form, in a generalized nonorthogonal coordinate system. A
coordinate transformation is used, and the solution domain is transfo
rmed into a unit rectangle, where the transformed governing equations
are solved via a finite volume technique. Various tests prove the effi
ciency and flexibility of the developed computer code; then the method
is applied to two practical applications concerning the calculation o
f the flow and concentration fields over two-two-dimensional (2-D) hil
ls, with and without flow reversal.
