The electrochemical behavior and electrocatalytic characteristics of s
oluble polyaniline (SPA) in the organic solvent dimethyl sulfoxide (DM
SO) at the platinum and glassy carbon electrodes were studied by means
of cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical behavior of SPA in DMSO-Li
ClO4 and DMSO-Zn (Ac)2 systems indicates that the electrochemical reac
tions that occur in the systems are quasi-reversible and controlled by
the diffusion of SPA in solution. When vitamin K3 is added to the SPA
-DMSO-Zn (Ac)2 system, the cathodic peak potential E(pc) moves in the
positive direction and the anodic peak potential E(pa) moves in the ne
gative direction. DELTAE (E(pa)- E(pc)) decreases and the reversibilit
y of these electrochemical reactions increases. Furthermore, the catho
dic peak current I(pc) increases in accordance with the electrocatalyt
ic characteristics of the electrode reaction.
