Ar. Banerjee et al., ECTOPIC SALIVARY-GLAND TISSUE IN THE PALATINE AND LINGUAL TONSIL, International journal of pediatric otorhinolaryngology, 27(2), 1993, pp. 159-162
A case is reported of a child born with a developmental field defect o
f the first branchial arch in whom there was partial obstruction of th
e oropharynx by a horseshoe-shaped mass of what was thought to be tons
illar tissue. 'Tonsillectomy' was performed but histopathological exam
ination of the excised specimens showed them to be almost entirely mad
e up of salivary gland tissue.
