Abstract
Technologies for electroslag remelting of continuously cast electrodes were investigated. It was found that when the electrodes are arranged in tandem it is possible to obtain high quality slab ingots on 20VG-I 2 furnaces. The imbalance in the melting of electrodes that is charact eristic of multi-electrode ESR circuits is then practically eliminated . The use of continuously cast instead of rolled electrodes enables ES R ingot production costs to be cut by 20%.
