The three-dimensional equilibrium equations for the flow of an incompr
essible, isothermal, dipolar fluid in a channel are considered; in pre
vious work it was proven that there exists a unique plane Poiseuille s
teady flow of such a multipolar viscous fluid with respect to the same
geometry. Conditions are derived which guarantee that the plane Poise
uille flow is, in fact, the unique steady flow in the channel satisfyi
ng an appropriate radiation condition.
