Abstract
We consider a problem of thermoelasticity for a semi-space heated by a moving cylindrical solid. The heat is generated by the friction of tw o moving contacting solids. Two Green's functions have been used to re duce the problem to an integral equation which has been solved numeric ally. The influence of the thermal distortion on the pressure has been found. The contact area is smaller than that predicted in the case of an isothermal contact.
