In this paper we calculate the vibrational spectra of classical, disor
dered, glasslike chains using a perturbation method and examine the ef
fect of various types of disordering on the spectra. The effects of lo
calization are discussed, and the strong influence of this phenomenon
on the convergence of the perturbation techniques is discussed. The in
fluence of fluid damping on the lattice is also treated, thereby provi
ding an approximate calculation for the damped oscillatory behavior of
coagulated colloidal systems.
