Abstract
A patient was operated for a contained rupture of an aortic aneurysm t hat appeared to be infected with Haemophilus influenzae type b. Report s on this species as a cause of infection and rupturation of an athero sclerotic aneurysm are extremely rare and we therefore describe this c ase. Apparently the risk of bacteraemia and the possible effects of it in patients with an aneurysm should be considered in surgical decisio n-making and management.
