Abstract
The use of archetypal ichnofacies in facies interpretation is criticiz ed because it does not provide the resolution that can be obtained by using traditional methods of paleoecological analysis: analyzing the a utecology and then moving to the synecology (including the ichnofabric ) and synthesis.
