Abstract
It is shown that, within the framework of the extended neoclassical th eory, for a tokamak there exists a relationship between the normalized thermal-energy content, beta, and the normalized plasma current, 1 / q. This relationship, which depends essentially only on plasma fuellin g, is a generalization of the usual Bennett relation and it is of impo rtance for tokamak confinement and heating.
