High wear resistance, including abrasive wear resistance, is ensured b
y producing a certain structure in alloys, i. e., of the base (matrix)
and of inclusions consisting of very hard particles (carbides), A cor
relation between the hardness of the matrix and the total wear resista
nce of alloys is not always discovered. The article presents the resul
ts of an investigation of the wear resistance of chrome-nickel steels
with austenitic and austenitic-martensitic structure having different
hardness and different degree of stability of the austenite.
