Abstract
The analysis of physical properties of sediments shows that their unre gular fluctuations in the upper parts of sedimentary layers have a sta ble tendency beginning from a certain depth of the layer. It is sugges ted to consider this depth as a lower boundary of modem bottom stratum of sediments.
