A complex geological geophysical study of the Afanasiy Nikitin seamoun t, carried out during the 20th cruise of the r/v ''Academik Mstislav K eldysh'' made possible to define it as a volcano of the cretaceous age with significant vertical displacement of the raising and fresh tecto nic relief of the mount top.
