Abstract
Experimental infestation of twenty-six lambs was performed using 200 F asciola hepatica metacercaria. Biochemical and haematological study of the lambs showed an important increase in the number of eosinophiles and an increase in the enzymatic activities of GLDH and GGT in the blo od. THe evolution of these parameters after infestation reflects an ag gressive two phase attack of the liver : attack of the parenchyma foll owed by the bile canaliculi. Treatment with a fasciolicide, triclabend azole, is effective in normalising blood parameters within a few weeks .
