The paper describes the design of a multistack induction motor which c
an be used in the electrical drive of automation systems. The motor ha
s been tested in a switch-controlled mode of operation. Electromagneti
c processes in the motor have been analysed by the tooth contour metho
d (TCM), which makes it possible to investigate magnetic fields with a
ccount taken of double-sided teeth and magnetic circuit core saturatio
n. Calculations were carried out with account taken of differential in
ductances. Results of calculations and experimental data are compared.
This comparison has shown that the TCM makes it possible to calculate
electromagnetic processes for various motor operating conditions with
high accuracy. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
