Abstract
The peculiarities of higher harmonics of the photorefractive response of gratings recorded by the mechanism of phase-locked detection by an external ac field are studied theoretically. The conditions for the hi gher harmonics recording are found in an analytic form. The dependence of the second spatial harmonic amplitude on spatial frequency is meas ured in two different samples of Bi12TiO20.
