Abstract
Two-layer optical fiber waveguides made from chalcogenide As-S glasses with record-low for this type of IR waveguides optical losses of 23 /- 8 dB/km at wavelength of 2.3 mum are fabricated. Within the spectra l range from 1.3 to 2.7 mum optical losses do not exeed 100 dB/km, and at wavelength 2.94 mum of YAG:ER3+ laser radiation they reach 350 dB/ km. Far field numerical aperture of the waveguides at the 90% power le vel was about 0.49.
