Abstract
Short-wavelength X-ray multipeak generation in plasma heated by long p ulses of a freely generating CO2-laser at a low pump intensity (up to 10 GW/CM2), which has been previously revealed by the authors, is stud ied in more detail. It is shown that multipeak generation under optima l conditions provides a 10 times gain in short-wavelength X-ray radiat ion per one laser pulse owing to the presence of extra peaks in the X- my signal. An interpretation of this phenomenon is suggested.
