Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy are widely accepted in c
linical practice. In the initial stage, when the method is introduced,
there are a number of mistakes, risks, and complications possible. Th
e surgeons', the staff, the instruments, the anesthetist, and, last bu
t not least, the patient, are among the possible contributing causes.
We try to analyze the reasons and conditions leading to possible compl
ications. Complications we have experinced are reported. In our conclu
sions we try to show how it is possible to avoid severe problems.
