Abstract
The application of existing and developing technologies in laparoscopi c surgery has given birth to a new concept: telepresence surgery. Robo tics, teleoperation, and telerobotics are key concepts in the understa nding of telepresence. Key concepts of robotics, teleoperation, telero botics, and virtual reality and their surgical applications are introd uced and discussed.
