Ai. Zvaigzne et We. Acree, SOLUBILITY OF PYRENE IN BINARY ALKANE-PROPANOL AND ALKANE+2-PROPANOL SOLVENT MIXTURES(1), Journal of chemical and engineering data, 38(3), 1993, pp. 393-395
Experimental solubilities are reported for pyrene in 12 binary mixture
s containing 1-propanol or 2-propanol with hexane, heptane, octane, cy
clohexane, methylcyclohexane, and 2,2,4-trimethylpentane at 26-degrees
-C. Results of these measurements are used to test two mathematical re
presentations based upon the combined nearly ideal binary solvent (NIB
S)/Redlich-Kister equation and modified Wilson model. For the systems
studied, the combined NIBS/Redlich-Kister equation was found to provid
e the better mathematical representation with deviations between exper
imental and back-calculated values being on the order of +/- 1.3% or l
ess.
