Abstract
The solid eicosane-liquid-vapor (SLV) phase behavior in the binary sys tem ethylene + eicosane was investigated. It was found that the SLV cu rve ends at a critical end point where liquid and vapor are critical i n the presence of pure solid eicosane. In this binary system liquid-li quid-vapor (LLV) equilibria are metastable with respect to solid forma tion. Addition of propane to mixtures of ethylene and eicosane reveale d stable LLV equilibria. P-T sections for seven ternary mixtures with different propane and eicosane concentrations were determined accordin g to the synthetic method. On the basis of the results obtained, a rou gh estimate of the ternary tricritical point and the metastable binary LLV curve is performed.
