The equilibrium interfacial tension isotherms at the octane-water and
toluene-water interfaces containing some model derivatives of hydropho
bic sulfonamides from 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine and o-phenylenediamine a
re determined and interpreted. The influence of the compound structure
s and polarity upon the effectiveness and efficiency of adsorption are
discussed. Compounds having a long hydrophobic alkyl chain are more s
urface active than compounds having a substituted aromatic ring.
