The information systems developer differs from the technical, or real-
time, systems developer in a number of respects, in particular, their
business environment, their technical environment their organizational
/departmental culture, their software development processes and their
priorities and needs for computer aided software engineering (CASE) to
ols1. The paper suggests that an SPM-based approach is valid for such
developers provided some modifications and enhancements are made to th
e underlying SPM model and the way SPM is applied.
