Abstract
When the sintered BaTiO3 specimens were treated at 200-degrees-C and c ooled under compressive stress, notable change in domain configuration occurred. As a result of external compressive stress applied during t ransformation from cubic to tetragonal, the banded domain structure ha s changed to a simple lamellar one and the 90-degrees domains have ali gned. The observed change in domain configuration under external stres s has been explained in terms of elastic strain energy minimization.
