M. Goetghebeur et al., BENZYL ALCOHOL OXIDASE AND LACCASE SYNTHESIS IN BOTRYTIS-CINEREA, Bioscience, biotechnology, and biochemistry, 57(8), 1993, pp. 1380-1381
Benzyl alcohol oxidase (BAO) has been assayed for the culture medium a
nd mycelia of Botrytis cinerea, grown in the presence of aromatic alco
hols with either glucose or galactose. Veratryl and coniferyl alcohols
increased the BAO activities of both fraction. Activities were highes
t with the combination of veratryl alcohol and galactose. The implicat
ion of BAO in the degradation of lignin-related compounds with regards
to the host-parasite interaction is discussed.
