Abstract
Monomeric molecular ruthenium oxide tetrafluoride, prepared by the rea ction of RuF5 with glass at c. 300-degrees-C, has been characterised b y mass spectrometry and matrix-isolation IR spectroscopy. RuOF4 exhibi ts C4v symmetry, in common with all the known transition-metal oxide f luorides, with the O-Ru-F angle calculated to be equal to 110 +/- 6-de grees.
