Two linear polyesters from cis- and trans-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic
acid and diethylene glycol have been synthesized by solution polycond
ensation in m-xylene. Fractions of the two polyesters of M(n)BAR ca 10
,000 g/mol were used for identification and structural studies, along
with cis- and trans-4-cyclo-hexene-1,2-dicarboxydiethyl ester, used as
models. Thermal and i.r. spectral data of models and polymers are rep
orted. The structures of the cis and trans species could be unambiguou
sly elucidated by means of H-1- and C-13-NMR.
